recycling + SMH office

Sustainability extends beyond our collections. At Sea Me Happy, we recognize that our day-to-day operations also have an environmental impact. That’s why we strive to reduce waste wherever possible by extensive office recycling, reusing shipping boxes for samples sent to our manufacturing partners, and packaging every customer order in paper-based materials to minimise our use of plastic. We also contribute to Fostplus “Het Groene Punt” to further offset our footprint.

To support our local creative community and minimise textile waste, we aim to donate surplus fabrics to schools to encourage creativity, experimentation, and support the next generation of designers. Additionally, Sea Me Happy host annual archive sales, where our goal is to give our community the opportunity to purchase pieces and leftover fabrics, helping extend the life of every material.

We also work with Vitamin Sea to make luggage tags, toiletry bags, and travel bags from recycled kite, sail, and surf gear, giving materials that would otherwise go to waste a further life. Each piece is handmade in South Africa, with the fabric cut and combined by hand, so no two pieces are ever quite the same.
